Episode 35 - Daisy and Melinda Coleman Part II
Sunday Dec 13, 2020
Sunday Dec 13, 2020
Daisy was able to find some light within the darkness, though. She and her older brother, Charlie, became sexual assault survivor advocates and HuffPost named Daisy one of their “13 Most Fearless Teens of 2013.” Netflix even caught wind of Daisy’s incredible story and the lack of justice she received and produced the documentary Audrie & Daisy in 2016. Audrie Pott was another sexual assault survivor documented in the film who took her own life in 2012 due to the trauma and persistent bullying – the same ordeal Daisy had gone through. But soon, tragedy would strike the Coleman family again.
We send so much love and light to Daisy’s surviving brothers, Melinda’s sons, Logan and Charlie, and the rest of the Coleman family as well as everyone at SafeBAE. This episode is in Daisy and Melinda’s honor.

Episode 34 - Daisy and Melinda Coleman Part I
Saturday Dec 12, 2020
Saturday Dec 12, 2020
Catherine Daisy Coleman was born March 30, 1997 in Albany, Missouri to Melinda Moeller, a veterinarian, and Michael Coleman, a physician. Her family gravitated towards calling her by her middle name, Daisy, and rarely used her first name. She was a bright little girl, so it was only appropriate that the name Daisy stuck.
14-year-old Daisy was a varsity cheerleader and competitive dancer. She was a popular girl who loved to entertain and be a social butterfly. However, that all changed on the night of January 8, 2012.

#fordaisy New Episode Trailer
Tuesday Dec 08, 2020
Tuesday Dec 08, 2020
Daisy Coleman was sexually assaulted at the age of 14 and the aftermath documented what rape culture is like in a small town. Years later, Daisy would grow up to co-found a non-profit organization called Safe BAE to raise awareness of sexual violence among youth. Unfortunately, the trauma of Daisy's past could not cease, and she took her own life. Then, just four months later, her mother, Melinda, also died by suicide. This Sunday we discuss Daisy and Melinda's story and why it is so important to open the discussion about trauma, mental health, and suicide. Sunday, Dec 13, only on Blackbird.
